Position Description:

The Controls Project Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of Lighthouse Instruments, LLC's machine control activities, including designing, developing, testing, and maintaining control systems for PLC-controlled pharmaceutical package inspection machinery. This position develops and maintains control software and hardware for automation machines sold to the pharmaceutical industry.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Design, Test and Maintenance

· Conceptual layout of control system architecture for pharmaceutical inspection machinery

· Programmable logic controller (PLC) programming (A/B, Siemens)

· Human-machine interface programming (InteractX, FactoryTalk, Wonderware InTouch)

· Familiarity with SQL databases

· Use various types of test equipment in troubleshooting PLC and HMI systems, as necessary and according to design and customer specifications

· Assure machines operate most economically and efficiently

· Knowledge of industrial electrical and safety codes


Documentation

· Support the development and maintenance of quality system documents

· Internal quality documents include software design review protocols, software test protocols, and version control

· External customer documents, including Functional Specifications, Design Specifications, Installation Qualifications, Operational Qualifications, and Factory Acceptance Tests

· Development of customer turnover packages, including disaster recovery instructions


Service/Support

· Support global service function

· Develop customer training material

· Develop preventative maintenance programs for PLC and HMI systems, as necessary, and routine troubleshooting activities


Organizational Relationships:


· Reports to the Manager of Engineering

· Interacts with Automation Product Manager, Engineering team, external suppliers and customers




Requirements:

Position Requirements:


· Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

· 7-10 years of Automation controls engineering preferred

· Domestic and International travel required (3-6 trips annually)
