The Director of Human Resources will plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the policies, activities, and staff of the Human Resources (HR) department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy. The Director of HR will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, working in collaboration with the Chief Strategy Officer to direct the daily HR functions including employee relations, policy support, administration of benefits, training and development, organizational development, new hire orientation support, as well as assisting with interviewing staff. The Director of HR will play a critical role in advising the CEO and C-Suite executive team in staff recruiting, retention and engagement.

Essential Functions

Lead the HR department and direct the HR strategy aligned with our strategic plan and core values; partner with C-Suite staff to create and manage programs and policies to cultivate an effective, talented, diverse, and engaged workforce.

Develops and manages the Human Resources operating budget as well as other project budgets as assigned (such as the employee Spirit Squad)

Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.

Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to competitive compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.

Leads and manages performance management process. Recommends performance evaluation strategies; ensures that constructive and timely performance evaluations are conducted across the organization by monitoring and tracking adherence to established timelines throughout the year; providing training and support to supervisors, as needed, to support a continuous cycle of coaching, mentoring and feedback throughout the process.

Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.

Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.

Manages new hire orientation/onboarding process by leading, communicating and supporting key stakeholders involved throughout the process to ensure a smooth, efficient and positive experience.

Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Maintains human resources related records ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred. Masters’ degree beneficial.

Minimum of 5 years human resource senior management experience required

Solid track record of successfully implementing HR programs and initiatives.

Excellent written, verbal communication skills with the proven ability to prepare quality documentation.

Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
