Job Overview

The Chief Human Resources Officer will spearhead the planning, leadership, direction, development, and coordination of the policies, activities, and personnel within the Human Resources (HR) division, ensuring adherence to legal standards and the effective execution of the organization's mission and talent strategy. This role encompasses both administrative and strategic responsibilities, collaborating closely with the Chief Strategy Officer to oversee daily HR operations, including employee relations, policy support, benefits administration, training and development, organizational growth, and new employee orientation, in addition to assisting with the recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct the HR division and formulate HR strategies that align with our strategic objectives and core values; collaborate with executive leadership to design and implement programs and policies that foster a talented, diverse, and engaged workforce.
  2. Develop and manage the Human Resources operational budget along with other assigned project budgets.
  3. Assess staffing and recruitment requirements; create and implement best practices for hiring and talent management, including conducting background checks and verifying employee eligibility.
  4. Oversee the administration of HR programs encompassing competitive compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, morale, occupational health and safety, and employee training and development.
  5. Lead the performance management process; recommend evaluation strategies and ensure timely performance reviews are conducted across the organization, providing necessary training and support to supervisors to facilitate ongoing coaching and feedback.
  6. Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  7. Conduct research and analyze organizational trends, reviewing reports and metrics from the HR information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  8. Manage the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring effective communication and support for all stakeholders involved to provide a seamless and positive experience.
  9. Ensure the organization complies with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, regularly reviewing and updating policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  10. Stay informed about trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  11. Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resources records.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred. A Master's degree is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in human resources is required.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing HR programs and initiatives.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
