Position Summary (major areas of contribution):

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing the manufacturing processes. The successful individual will be accountable for developing, communicating, and deploying effective operational strategies that ensure location safety, productivity, quality, as well as employee engagement goals. The supervisor will lead a team of leaders and hourly personnel to meet and exceed operational goals. This facility utilizes lean manufacturing techniques and requires leadership that can participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage department workflow to obtain optimum productivity.
  • Determine and provide proper quality product.
  • Read and communicate blueprints/drawings and BOM to department employees.
  • Maintain proper employee discipline.
  • Schedule product through department and adjust as needed.
  • Maintain clean and safe department.
  • Communicate to employees concerning safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Train and cross-train employees.
  • Monitor jobs and determine prioritization.
  • Convey employee and equipment department needs to Plant Manager.
  • Contact Plant Manager/Engineering with any parts issues and monitor thereafter.
  • Continuously monitor production techniques as to improve product flow as well as properly utilizing resources while reducing scrap.
  • Monitors employee timecards in ADP and makes corrections as necessary.

  • Communicate with Purchasing on Short Materials for jobs on schedule.
  • Communicate with Warehouse, FAB, Assembly and Shipping on status of jobs on schedule.
  • Communicate with human Resources with disciplinary actions with employees.
  • Set Department hours schedule according to Production Schedule.
  • Monitor shop cleanliness.
  • Monitor products made to standards.
  • Work with Plant Manager to make sure procedures and production goals are met.
  • Communicate and continue to train on lean manufacturing and Kaizen Topics
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing
  • Manage Manpower when Team Leads are out.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to operate independently.
  • Excellent math skills
  • Team oriented with strong organizational skills, have the ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
  • Requires solid interpersonal customer service skills with a proactive approach at handling projects.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • High energy level and hands-on orientation with a very high level of detail.
  • Must have a proactive approach to managing projects and refining processes.

Including Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required):

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Prior Manufacturing Supervisory experience required.

Experience (type and amount of experience required):

  • Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent working knowledge of MRP Systems, with preferences in Movex.
  • Interact with production leadership when required.
  • Proven ability to continuously apply concentrated attention, while juggling priorities on multiple tasks within specified time frames
  • Proven ability to maintain composure and focus on the job in a highly intense work environment demanding flexibility and sense of urgency in completing required problem resolution, tasks, and projects.
  • Minimal Travel

Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will prolong periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds. Must wear PPE at all times while on the shop floor.
