Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. is seeking a Billing Associate to join the Agency Finance Department. This position is Full Time/40 hours per week and located at the Main Office in Auburn, NY. The Billing Specialist is responsible for processing billing weekly, maintaining various spreadsheets, and addressing errors or rejections within prescribed time frames. The Billing Associate is also responsible for keeping up to date with all changes to ensure compliance with government and insurance policies.

The Billing Associate responsibilities include the following:

  • Maintains all rate setups in the Electronic Health Record including updates annually or as needed.
  • Submits weekly billing through Netsmart systems for all fee-for-service (FFS) programs.
  • Review claims for accuracy and completeness, obtain and/or correct any missing or inaccurate information.
  • Compile and submit claims to appropriate payors within prescribed timelines.
  • Reasearch and resolve billing problems and discrepancies.
  • Research and rebill unpaid claims when appropriate to ensure optimum collections.
  • Post all payment to client accounts accurately.
  • Maintain cash log for insurance billings.
  • Assist administrative staff with insurance eligibility determinations for clients.
  • Record all fee-for-service accounts receivable payments in Blackbaud and on spreadsheet.
  • Provide Monthly reports to management including, but not limited to, monthly claim amounts per program, cash receipts, denials (including reason for denials) and outstanding receivables.
  • Mails client statements monthly.
  • Processes all Scholarship Applications and complete annual recertifications.
  • Processes insurance reaccreditation applications.
  • Assist with CFR preparation, funder audits and the annual Agency financial audit.
  • Provides confidential internal and external customer service in all matters regarding the finance department.
  • Preforms other duties as needed.

Requirements of this position Include:

Qualified Candidates must have experience with Medical Coding and Billing required, preferably in the mental health field. Experience utilizing Electronic Medical Record software, Netsmart and RevConnect preferred. Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft excel Skills. EEO.


The Agency Offers:
