Key Responsibilities:

  1. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Shipping Supervisor is primarily tasked with ensuring the precision of both internal and external shipments. The role involves guaranteeing that shipments fulfill or surpass customer expectations while upholding a secure working environment. This position also entails guiding a team of associates through specialized knowledge and the management of their responsibilities.
  2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure timely delivery of shipments within budget constraints.
  • Oversee and verify both outgoing and incoming shipments, ensuring items are accurate and in optimal condition.
  • Inspect all aspects of loading and unloading operations to meet shipping standards and optimize warehouse space usage.
  • Review shipping documentation to confirm the appropriate shipping methods are utilized.
  • Conduct regular monthly and annual inventory reconciliations.
  • Manage billing activities.
  • Adhere to all relevant safety and housekeeping protocols.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures to comply with Quality Systems Regulation (QSR).
  • Oversee departmental safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • May involve preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Maintain records of employee time and production.
  • Execute supervisory duties in alignment with organizational policies and applicable regulations.
  • Enforce safety and operational policies.
  • Responsible for the selection, training, assignment, discipline, evaluation, and appraisal of team members.
  • May engage in special projects or assignments as needed.
  • Flexibility in working hours and shifts is required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND EDUCATION:

EDUCATION: A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required. An Associate degree is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a shipping warehouse environment. Supervisory experience of 3 to 5 years is also required. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset are essential. Proficiency in PC usage and relevant applications is necessary, along with the ability to address practical problems and navigate various concrete variables in less standardized situations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Proficiency in reading and understanding simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English is required. Familiarity with documents such as bills of lading, sales orders, deliveries, freight bills, Safety Data Sheets, SOPs, work instructions, manuals, policies, and procedures is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including determining board footage of foam and cube footage of trailers.

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office) are required. The ability to multitask is essential.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to execute instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Problem-solving skills in practical situations are necessary.

  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role supervises the shipping and receiving department and may provide support throughout the production area as required.
  2. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
