Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Shipping Supervisor is primarily tasked with ensuring the precision of internal and external shipments. This role guarantees that shipments align with customer expectations while upholding a safe working environment. You will lead a team of associates through your expertise and management of their responsibilities. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure timely delivery of shipments within budget constraints.
  • Oversee and verify outgoing and incoming shipments to confirm items are accurate and in optimal condition.
  • Inspect all aspects of loading/unloading operations to meet shipping specifications and optimize warehouse space usage.
  • Review shipping documentation to ensure correct shipping methods are applied.
  • Conduct regular monthly and annual inventory reconciliations.
  • Manage billing activities.
  • Adhere to all safety and housekeeping protocols.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to comply with Quality Systems Regulation (QSR).
  • Oversee departmental safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
  • May assist with preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • Maintain employee attendance and production records.
  • Execute supervisory responsibilities in line with organizational policies and relevant laws.
  • Enforce safety and operational policies.
  • Responsible for the selection, training, assignment, discipline, evaluation, and appraisal of team members.
  • May engage in special projects or assignments as required.
  • Must be adaptable to varying hours and shifts.
  1. REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, and EDUCATION:

EDUCATION: A minimum of a High School diploma or GED is required. An Associate degree is preferred, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a shipping warehouse environment and 3 to 5 years in a supervisory role. Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team-oriented approach are essential. Proficiency in PC applications relevant to the position is required, along with the ability to address practical problems and manage various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. This includes documents such as bills of lading, sales orders, deliveries, freight bills, Safety Data Sheets, SOPs, work instructions, manuals, policies, and procedures. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including determining board footage of foam and cube footage of trailers.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office) are required. The ability to multitask is essential.

REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form and solve problems practically.

  1. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position oversees the shipping and receiving department and may provide support in the production area as needed.
  2. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands outlined here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

While performing the duties of this position, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate must frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 140 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
