AVEC serves the rural Alaska communities with 11,513 meters, 515 miles of distribution line.

Benefits:

  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Health Savings Account or Flexible Spending Account
  • Basic Life Insurance, AD&D, Spouse Life paid for by AVEC
  • Supplemental Life Insurance

  • 2 Floating Holidays & 1 Birthday Holiday
  • Short Term and Long Term Disability
  • Option for working a 9/80 schedule (after 6 months)
  • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account

About the role:

As the Assistant Project Manager you will function as the assistant to the Project Manager and provide limited support to other Key Accounts staff. Your day to day would include shifting priorities where you would need flexibly to respond accordingly. The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager on design and construction projects in excess of one million dollars and will work as lead on projects up to one million dollars in value. In this role, you will have the opportunity to travel to communities via small single engine aircraft to inspect and or oversee construction work.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS required in Management, Engineering or related discipline and 3+ years of experience in project management, technical writing, and ensuring chain of custody and compliance with complex projects.
  • 10 years of directly related experience and a Certified Associate in Project Management can be substituted for education.

Work environment you can expect:
Our office in Anchorage is located at 4831 Eagle Street with off-street parking and a view of the mountains. We offer flexibility in start/end time between 7am-5:00pm. This is full time, in-person work with some travel required. Work outside of normal office hours may be required to ensure projects on schedule.

Next Steps:

If you think you have what it takes to be an Assistant Project Manager for AVEC, the next step is to complete our online application. Don't worry, the application is pretty easy, it simply asks for your resume and to answer some questions to help us get to know you and your experience better. We should warn you though, if you are selected to move further in our hiring process, you will be asked to complete a second stage of the application (this is the fun part where you are asked to provide the more detailed work history and education history - yes we know the struggle). This is good news though because it will most likely earn you a chance to speak with our very talented Manager of Community Development and Key Accounts.

AVEC is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against based on disability.
