Description:
The HR Specialist provides support to employees and management by creating effective working relationships with both internal and external customers. The HR Specialist performs a variety of functions focused on benefits administration, employee relations and training and development. The HR Specialists can also expect to be involved in administration, coaching regarding company policies and procedures, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with creating, planning, and running training programs.
  • Coordinate open enrollments, changes, and training for employee benefits programs. 
  • Maintain up-to-date benefits data for both business units including auditing monthly benefits invoicing, reporting enrollments, and termination to Benefits Broker. 
  • Respond to human resources-related inquiries.
  • Communicate across all levels of the organization to ensure understanding and align with company initiatives, regulative changes and cultural focuses.
  • Monitor employee morale and company culture including assisting in special events such as ERC and Team VOCal activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain employee personnel records
  • Provide personnel policy and procedure guidance to employees and management.
     
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of the human resources field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state and federal employment regulations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work promptly in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of section 125 benefit plan administration, including COBRA, HIPAA, and other related regulatory issues.
  • The ability to create, plan and develop new training programs.
  • Proficient in various computer programs including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
     
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in training and development and benefits administration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook)
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
     
Work Environment: 
Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office and industrial manufacturing building; the noise level is quiet to moderate.  The environment is typical of an office setting. The employee frequently works on a computer completing assigned tasks. This position is not eligible for fully remote work and requires a minimum of four days in the office.

Physical Demands:
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the following physical demands are required:
  • The ability to talk and hear to communicate, detect, discern, discuss, express oneself, and exchange information effectively and clearly.
  • The ability to see details at close range.
  • The ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Travel Required:
10% Travel is to be expected.  Some fiscal quarters may include more and some less.
