Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a detail-oriented Contract Buyer/Planner to support our client during the implementation of their SAP system. The Contract Buyer/Planner will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services, supporting the company's goals, and ensuring smooth operations during the SAP implementation.


Pay: $28.24-$39.53/hour


Contract Buyer/Planner Responsibilities:

  • Engage with suppliers, distributors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure procurement of materials meets approved schedules and quality specifications.
  • Audit supplier quality, cost, delivery, environmental, and supply chain security performance.
  • Communicate material requirement schedules and forecasts to suppliers.
  • Monitor and maintain material levels and the status of purchased materials.
  • Advise Production Planning and Operations of any delays and work to resolve material shortage issues.
  • Collaborate with Receiving and Accounting to expedite, reschedule, or cancel purchase orders as needed.
  • Develop mid-range capacity plans and Master Production Schedules (MPS) in line with resource guidelines.
  • Create action plans for changes in supply or demand and communicate with SEC counterparts and EPI personnel.
  • Coordinate production planning/purchasing procedures to support department goals.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts and repetitive schedules in the MRP system.
  • Communicate changes to ensure materials are available to support demand.
  • Monitor daily production progress and recommend corrective actions.
  • Create factory production schedules and coordinate packing plans to meet detailed shipping requirements.

Contract Buyer/Planner Qualifications:

  • Must have SAP experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of MRP systems, purchasing, and planning.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and self-direction.
  • Flexibility in buyer and planner roles.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent applicable education and work experience is required.
  • APICS certifications or similar professional operations and inventory control concept training required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing within a LEAN manufacturing environment using MRP systems and/or as an MRO buyer in a related industry.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Intermediate PC skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and email.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs
