The Role - What A Day In The Life Might Look Like:


1. Financial Leadership & Reporting:

  • Prepare Financial Statements: Lead the preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements, ensuring they reflect the company’s financial position and operational performance
  • General Ledger Management: Review and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are accurate and compliant with accounting principles. Post month-end journal entries and accrue expenses as needed to ensure financial data integrity
  • Custom Management Reports: Design and generate specific management reports tailored to the needs of senior leadership, providing insights that drive strategic decision-making

2. Process Improvement & Efficiency:

  • Streamline Operations: Continuously improve the efficiency of day-to-day accounting activities and the month-end close process. Utilize available accounting software and resources to their maximum capability, reducing cycle times and enhancing accuracy
  • Insurance Program Support: Assist the Senior Accounting Manager in administering insurance programs, including risk assessment, to ensure adequate coverage and compliance with regulatory requirements

3. Inventory & Fixed Assets Accounting:

  • Inventory Management: Act as the go-to resource for all inventory-related accounting questions. Reconcile the inventory ledger to the General Ledger, investigate discrepancies, and perform inventory adjustments and returns as necessary
  • Fixed Assets Oversight: Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions, maintain the schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation, and calculate depreciation for all assets

4. Compliance & Tax Reporting:

  • Sales & Use Tax Reporting: Prepare and file Sales & Use tax reports, ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations
  • Year-End Close & 1099s: Assist with the year-end close process, including the preparation of 1099 forms, ensuring all deadlines are met and financial data is accurately reported

5. Continuous Improvement & Support:

  • Chart of Accounts Maintenance: Maintain and update the company’s Chart of Accounts, ensuring it accurately reflects the structure of the business and supports financial reporting needs
  • Customer Incident Reports (CIR) Review: Review CIR issues as requested, ensuring that credit memos are processed promptly and accurately, maintaining customer satisfaction and financial integrity
  • Resource for General Accounting Questions: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for the company, addressing general accounting inquiries and providing guidance on best practices
Qualifications - What You Bring To The Table:
  • Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and 5 years of related work experience in accounting, particularly in financial reporting, general ledger management, inventory, and fixed assets accounting
  • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to managing financial data, with a strong commitment to accuracy and confidentiality
  • Process Improvement Mindset: A proactive approach to enhancing accounting processes, with the ability to leverage technology for efficiency gains
  • Problem-Solving: Adept at managing complex transactions and resolving discrepancies, with a keen eye for detail
