Houston, United States APQC Full time
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOverview:
APQC is looking for a project/program management professional with an ability to meet and exceed research study and content production goals, while continuing to be a lifelong learner and problem solver. We are a member-based nonprofit that researches best practices in business across several functions—supply chain, finance, HR, process management, and knowledge management. Our members are global organizations from all industries that turn to APQC for a look beyond the hype and headlines into what’s really going on and working in business. We field original research studies that help identify best practices and publish our learnings so members can create action plans to drive improvement and results.
The Research Manager will manage research studies on various topics under the guidance and direction of subject matter experts and work with the extended APQC team to bring the findings and insights to life. Research Managers are inquisitive, motivated, have excellent communication skills, and can work on a variety of projects with changing priorities and deadlines. The Research Manager is a key component to APQC’s research, ensuring project timeline and deliverable goals are met. You will gain exposure to the processes and operations of some of the world’s most recognized organizations, developing knowledge in core business functions.
What you will do
  • Manage research projects within a functional area in APQC’s Research Services group
  • Coordinate with the Principal Research Lead on project scopes, research questions, and planned content to publish
  • Manage data collection activities including surveys, interviews, and roundtable discussions
  • Collaborate with statisticians on the analysis and interpretation of the collected data
  • Manage the creation and publication of data-based, practical, and compelling content collaborating with writers and others as needed
What you will need to succeed
  • You are naturally curious—if you come across a topic you aren’t familiar with you like to dig in for a better understanding
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing projects with a drive for meeting goals and deadlines
  • You are energized by multiple projects and activities going on at the same time over a focus on a single project
  • You can work both autonomously and in a highly collaborative environment
  • You look to technology to make your job easier, leveraging project management systems (like Asana) and collaboration tools (like Microsoft Teams)
  • Market or business research experience preferred
  • Knowledge management experience a plus
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Above average written and oral English
