At ABL Hospice, we are dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality hospice care that extends beyond medical support to offer comfort, dignity, and respect during life’s most challenging moments. We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Senior Director of Operational Excellence and Compliance to join our team and lead our hospice services with integrity and commitment.

Role Overview:

As the Senior Director of Operations and Compliance, you will define and implement growth strategies while ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. You will lead the operational team in optimizing business operations, managing hospice services, marketing and community outreach, and maintaining the highest standards of care.

This role also includes direct oversight of the After-Hours support team and serves as a key subject matter expert for the markets on hospice-related issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational team in improving business processes, managing hospice services, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee financial performance, reporting programs, audits, and software implementation.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to develop and expand hospice care programs, enhancing services to better meet the needs of patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Collaborate with the education team to stay abreast of the latest clinical research and innovative hospice delivery models.
  • Prepare for surveys, manage P&L responsibilities, and act as the primary liaison between the governing body and employees.
  • Recruit and retain qualified staff and contractors, and assess their performance regularly.
  • Take primary responsibility for achieving the annual budget.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Administrator, and leadership team to:
    • Develop customer objectives and strategies, meet or exceed customer expectations, and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance satisfaction.
  • Identify and address key customer, employee, and community issues that could impact financial and non-financial results.
  • Provide direct oversight of the after-hours support team, ensuring effective support outcomes and managing associated operational costs.
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand market share, boost revenue, and drive growth in both current and new markets.
  • Track clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction scores, and quality metrics, implementing strategies to address improvement areas and enhance overall quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in health services, business administration, management, nursing, public health, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience working in California with knowledge of state employment and home care regulations.
  • Clinical professional license preferred.
  • At least five years of progressive experience in business with managerial responsibilities, including four years in home health and/or hospice care.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in P&L management, healthcare, post-acute care, reimbursement models, and federal/state/local regulations.
