Job Summary

Under the leadership of the Senior Director of Human Resources the HR Generalist will coordinate the policies, activities, and ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Senior Director to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, audits, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; applies this knowledge to recommend changes in policy, practice, and resources to Senior Director of Human Resources.
  • Helps to ensure that all HR related information is entered and managed in the Agency-selected employee management software.
  • Listening to employee claims, complaints, suggestions, and seeking solutions.
  • Assisting with employee onboarding procedures.
  • Making sure that employees follow all policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining physical and digital files for employees and their documents, benefits and attendance records.
  • Assist with maintaining training schedules
  • Performs other duties as required.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Strict confidentiality and exhibit discretion at all times
  • Report all out-of-compliance or unsafe activities to supervisor
  • Other related duties may be assigned, as required
  • Act as the designee for the Senior Director of Human Resources when needed and appropriate

Knowledge/Required Skills/Abilities (Core Competencies) Core Competency: Supervisions

  • Core Competency: Supervisors will complete 100% of direct reports evaluations on time (within 30 days of the effective date of evaluation) and will have no old evaluations outstanding to meet expectations. Supervisors that supervise second level reports will also need to have 85% of any indirect reports completed on time to meet expectations.
  • Measurement: Review of evaluations due during the review period and whether they were completed on time.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Human Resource Technology Programs, Training Software, and MS Office software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Professional demeanor with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • The ability to be a self-starter, multi-task, and handle numerous projects at once
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication and interpretation skills
Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
  • At least two years of human resource management experience required.

Physical Requirements

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job such as prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer. May need to lift up to 15 pounds
