Job Overview

Position Summary:

Compass Systems Inc. is in search of a Senior Air Quality Engineer possessing a robust background in environmental science to assist the U.S. Navy's Aircraft Environmental Support Office (AESO). This office plays a critical role in providing accurate aircraft emission data essential for operational planning and adherence to environmental regulations. The role emphasizes the importance of air quality considerations related to aircraft activities and necessitates a comprehensive understanding of air quality standards and environmental management.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will focus on evaluating aircraft emissions and related compliance activities. Desired expertise includes:

  • Enhancing current aircraft air quality systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Offering guidance on regulatory policies, including development, implementation, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Conducting thorough reviews and assessments of program acquisition documents, providing technical support in areas related to AESO compliance and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements.
  • Assisting in the preparation of NEPA documentation.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Executing emissions calculations and air dispersion modeling, along with measuring gaseous and particulate emissions.
  • Contributing to the development and management of emissions databases.
  • Utilizing programming skills in Python and LabVIEW.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy Data Acquisition Systems is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a current/active Secret Security Clearance is preferred; the ability to obtain one is required.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field, coupled with a minimum of five years of experience in environmental engineering or related responsibilities.

Physical Requirements:

In this role, the employee will regularly engage in learning and applying new skills and information. The ability to interpret data and documents is essential. Occasionally, the role may require lifting up to 45 pounds. The work environment will have moderate temperature and noise levels.
