Key Responsibilities:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure that the facility adheres to all environmental regulations set forth by local, state, and federal authorities.

  • Oversee all aspects of air quality compliance across multiple operational units, with potential responsibilities in other environmental media.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal environmental regulations and compliance programs at both unit and site levels.
  • Assist the air permit team in preparing necessary permits and calculations for various compliance requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance during the Management of Change (MOC) process to maintain compliance with air permit conditions and regulatory limits.
  • Implement new permit and regulatory changes across assigned units.
  • Coordinate stack testing to meet compliance obligations.
  • Support Emission Inventory and Toxic Release Inventory reporting as well as the Environmental Management System.
  • Lead the response to audits and investigations from regulatory agencies.
  • Analyze incidents, calculate emissions, and ensure proper documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Conduct training for operational staff on compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports as necessary.
  • Conduct field inspections and support health, safety, and environmental responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with operational teams on projects and process improvements.
  • Be available for on-call and emergency support as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred, though other engineering disciplines may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a chemical plant environment focusing on air compliance.
  • At least 5 years of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas air permitting and federal environmental regulations relevant to the chemical sector.
  • Experience with emission event regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Minimal travel required, primarily for conferences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with data management systems relevant to environmental compliance.
  • Experience in chemical batch processing.
  • Knowledge of air dispersion modeling.
