FLSA STATUS:               Non-Exempt

TIME COMMITMENT:       Full-time (40 hours/ week) Overnight availability required; Tuesday - Saturday

Friday & Saturday 11 PM- 7 AM; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:45 PM-7:30 AM

SALARY:                          $20-$21 per hour DOE

POSITION SUMMARY

The Caseworker Coach I overnight is an essential member of Rachel’s Promise Team responsible for ensuring participants are served in clean, safe environments. Supports residents in meeting realistic attainable goals that lead to obtaining safe, stable housing. Develops a strong working knowledge of community resources and establishes collaborative working relationships with colleagues within and outside of Catholic Charities. Motivating, supporting, and guiding the people we serve is a shared responsibility for every member of the team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Welcomes and orients new participants to shelter; completes initial intakes and explains program routines and behavioral expectations.
  • Provides a consistent presence in the facility, remaining mindful of residents’ physical, emotional, and psychological safety.
  • Prepares meal supplies and assists with serving meals as needed. Oversees after-meal clean-up and ensures supplies are fully stocked for the following day.
  • Assists participants in developing life skills (e.g., how to use showers, and laundry facilities, maintain the environment, resolve conflicts, navigate social service delivery system, etc.)
  • Supports residents in following through on established goals, checks in with participants after off-site appointments, documents progress, and barriers to success, and identifies possible solutions. Assists with problem-solving.
  • Assists participants in gathering and obtaining documents necessary to achieve their goals and obtain housing.
  • Ensures facility is clean, well maintained and supports participants in completing chores in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Keeps supervisor apprised of issues, problems, complaints, and/or concerns expressed by residents.
  • Documents services provided, maintains sign-in logs and other record-keeping processes. Documents significant events in the daily log and sends end-of-shift emails before leaving.
  • When applicable, facilitates participants’ access to technology used to meet with internal CC and external service providers.                                                
  • Fosters a trauma-informed, safety-focused culture within Rachel’s Promise
  • Develops a comprehensive base of knowledge of county-wide resources that address the needs of people experiencing homelessness. Maintains current knowledge about community resources.
  • Participates in case management, training conferences, and program monthly meetings as scheduled.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers within Catholic Charities Homeless Services Programs and establishes collaborative relationships with colleagues from other agencies providing similar or complementary services.
  • Documents all contacts with residents in files and Clarity HMIS and may include entering information into CES (Coordinated Entry System for housing placement)
  • Completes and submits all required monthly reports and assigned paperwork as needed in a timely and accurate manner.


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Associate’s degree in human services, social or behavioral sciences, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum one-year experience serving people experiencing homelessness, living with substance use disorders, and/or mental illness.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
  • Well-developed listening skills
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking preferred but not required, must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Successful completion of a live scan background clearance
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed approaches to service delivery. Prior knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, Housing First, and harm reduction approaches to service delivery is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to become proficient with database software.
  • Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to walk for up to 8 hours per day with intermittent occasional standing, bending, squatting, or climbing.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
