Missouri Refugee Resource Coordinator

Work closely with refugee resettlement agencies across Missouri providing support, training, guidance, and networking opportunities that lead to Refugee self-sufficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Legal:
- Identify local, state, and federal partners to assist in resolving issues with parole, asylum, and other entrant statuses
- Work with contracted Legal Services Providers on building consortium of partners to share problem points and share best practices
- Develop working group for regional US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices
- Assist local resettlement agencies on finding solutions to their refugee legal questions
Housing:
- Develop and maintain contacts with housing staff at national & local resettlement agencies
- Serve as a member of Refugee Housing Solutions workgroup
- Analyze housing data and examine trends in refugee housing availability
- Develop innovative long-term housing options beyond traditional rentals
- Intervene in areas of the state where housing access and availability is concerning
- Collaborate with local resettlement agencies to ensure that clients' immediate housing needs are being met
- Identify emergency housing assistance through other federal, state, or locally funded programs to supplement gaps in cash assistance and housing costs.
- Monitor local resettlement agencies' housing activities
Documentation:
- Assist local resettlement agencies with issues pertaining to Social Security Cards, Employment Authorization Documents, I-94s, State issued IDs, etc
- Coordinate with documentation issuing agencies to ensure proper documentation for Resettlement Agency clients
Private Sponsorships:
- Monitor data regarding Private Sponsorships across the state and provide information to organizations seeking to become private sponsors
- Assist in the coordination of Private Sponsorship Organizations and Private Sponsorship Groups in the state
- Serve as the MO liaison to Welcome Corps and its constituent members
- Provide technical assistance and training to groups interested in community sponsorship
- Co-develop state specific resources for community sponsors
Coordinate other statewide refugee initiatives including:
- Higher education access for refugees
- Employer engagement
- Support for LGBT refugees and service providers
- Entrepreneurial assistance
- Cuban/Haitian entrants and their unique challenges
additional
- Communicate with local resettlement agencies and others on issues involving housing, sponsorship, legal services and other initiatives listed above
- Participate in task forces, advocacy groups on the national, state and local levels where appropriate
- Participate in community activities around housing/legal services
- Present information to groups on refugee housing/legal services
- Travel to resettlement agencies across the state and community stakeholders to support implementation of new initiatives
- Perform other appropriate duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to interpret and adhere to established policies and procedures;
Effective interpersonal and communication skills;
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, internet research and a high comfort level in working with computer systems;
Must exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact in dealing with the public, and in giving and obtaining information;
Must have knowledge of and the ability to adhere to confidentiality standards;
Must be able to focus on details and ensure accuracy in reporting and giving information;
Must be cordial in working under pressure and/or meeting deadlines;
Ability to follow tasks through to completion;
Must be able to work well both independently as well as part of a team;
Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel out of town as needed;
Knowledge of the field of refugee resettlement helpful
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree with at least one year of relevant work experience required or equivalent; prefer experience working in refugee services field
