Position Summary
The Donor Relations Officer plays a critical role in the success and sustainability of our organization by building and nurturing relationships with our valued donors. This position is dedicated to enhancing donor satisfaction and loyalty through personalized communication and strategic engagement. By fostering a culture of gratitude and recognition, the Donor Relations Officer ensures that donors feel appreciated and integral to our mission.

This role involves managing donor communications, coordinating special events, and developing innovative strategies to expand our donor base and increase donor retention. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a deep passion for philanthropy, a creative approach to problem-solving, and a proven track record of successful donor engagement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement fund development efforts including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, foundation and government grants, corporate sponsorships, and special events.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive donor stewardship plan.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and preferences using Donor Perfect.
  • Design, prepare and deliver detailed impact stories, annual report, and gift acknowledgements to donors.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with donors.
  • Identify and engage potential new donors, and align donor intent to expand donor base.
  • Develop and implement fundraising campaigns and appeals.
  • Plan and coordinate donor recognition and fundraising events.
  • Prepare regular reports on donor activity, retention, and fundraising progress.
  • Research and analyze donor data to identify engagement and retention opportunities to build donor base.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of donor relations strategies.
  • Help manage the budget for development activities, allocating resources effectively and tracking expenditures.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Badgerland’s program offerings and the impact of our mission to inspire donors with clear, compelling and inspiring messages and collateral.
  • Utilize data analytics to measure the impact of donor impact.
  • Stay informed about trends in philanthropy, fundraising techniques and emerging technologies to enhance the effectiveness of the organization’s fundraising efforts.
  • Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law and Wisconsin Badgerland Girl Scouts mission, vision, and values.

Education or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 or more years in donor relations, fundraising, or related field. Proven track record of successful donor engagement and relationship management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to share the impact of the Girl Scout mission in a compelling way.
  • Ability to translate data to inform fundraising strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and decision-making skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with a bias towards execution and action.
  • Passion for philanthropy and commitment to the organization's mission.
  • Creative thinker for developing innovative donor engagement strategies.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communicator.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience working with cloud-based platforms, and DonorPerfect (preferred).
  • Be or become a registered member of the Girls Scouts of the United States of America; have a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming, and be committed to the Girl Scout mission. Prior Girl Scout experience not required.

Other Requirements
  • Anticipated time away from the office is less than 5%.
  • Possess a valid driver’s License and proof of insurance.
  • Must be able to work both in an office setting and independently off-site as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work occasional weekends and evenings and occasional overnights.

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
