Job DescriptionJob Description

The Quarto Group is looking for a Marketing and Publicity Assistant to help promote titles across the Quarto Children’s list, working on titles in categories including nonfiction, picture books and graphic novels and series such as Little People, BIG DREAMS, Saturday AM and The Story Orchestra. The ideal candidate is digitally savvy and has a collaborative spirit, a strong attention to detail, and an ability to multitask. The role will assist in developing digital and traditional marketing campaigns, handling departmental administrative duties, and coordinating large mailings. The position will be based in our New York, NY or Beverly, MA office, with a hybrid in-office/work-from-home schedule.

Key Results Areas

  • Create and execute digital marketing plans, including social media campaigns, email marketing, and influencer relationships.
  • Work with the global children’s marketing team on the planning, execution and supporting of social media marketing for Quarto Kids across all social platforms.
  • Create graphics for use across digital promotions and social media.
  • Organize award and trade review submissions for children’s books; build academic and library lists for adoption campaigns.
  • Produce press releases and media kits, pull pitch lists, write advertising copy, and develop supplemental marketing content.
  • Plan and execute mailings, and maintain a detailed and well-organized database of contacts.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Marketing and Publicity in analyzing and reporting on the results of marketing initiatives.
  • Communicate regularly to the company on marketing initiatives, developments, and accomplishments.
  • Manage other administrative duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2 years experience.
  • Digitally savvy, with strong experience and current knowledge of social media trends.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms required.
  • Highly creative with an ability to conceive of new and innovative approaches to marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-starter with ability to follow through and execute efficiently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt as job and/or organization changes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Box/Dropbox preferred.
  • Relationships and experience with independent bookstores a plus.
  • Experience in publishing industry preferred but not required.
