Job Summary:

The Vice President of Finance, reporting to the CEO of Operations and Strategy, is responsible for leading the financial management and accounting operations of a non-profit organization. This position is part of the executive team, responsible for finance leadership and reporting for the organization, as well as financial advisor to leaders of the organization. This also position oversees the facilities department. The direct reports of this position include the Director of Internal Audit and Budget, Accounting Manager and Director of Facilities.

Salary: $125,000.00 t $130,000.00 based upon years of experience

How will you make a difference?

As part of our team, you will:

Financial management and oversight

  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations.
  • Partner with accounting manager to ensure close the monthly financials.
  • Direct and coordinate the preparation of the organization's financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow.
  • Seek and lead process improvements for AR, AP, budgeting, reporting and analysis.
  • Manage cash, cashflow analysis and projections.
  • Work with Director of Internal Audit and Budget in the annual audit process and preparation of the organization's annual 990 filing.
  • Manage the organization's cash flow and cash analysis, oversight of billing and receivables.
  • Work with Director of Internal Audit and Budget to create the budgeting framework, process and analysis.
  • Approve electronic and check payments.

Financial Partner & Collaborator

  • Member of the organization’s leadership team contributing ideas and taking initiative on matters facing the entire organization.
  • Prepare and lead the finance committee of the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Board treasurer.
  • Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for the organization's management and board of directors.
  • Financial partner to organizations leaders helping them with financial analysis to identify trends and explore options to improve financial performance.
  • Manage banking, auditor, and other key financial relationships.
  • Partner with VP of Advancement to ensure compliance with grant and contract requirements and maintain accurate records of all grants and contracts.
  • Provide financial analysis and support to the organization's management team and board of directors.
  • Oversight of the facilities department including regular meetings with the Director of Facilities to ensure facilities are maintained and meet the needs of the organization.

  • BA, Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 15 years of finance & accounting is required.
  • 7 years of management experience is required.
