Position Overview:
The Vice President of Consultant Partnerships is a senior executive role ideal for a candidate with extensive industry knowledge, financial expertise, and exceptional relationship management skills.

This role entails overseeing UnitedHealth Group's relationships and steering our strategy with one or more prominent consulting firms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement national strategies that enhance the growth and retention of UnitedHealth Group's business through the consultant channel.
  • Collaborate with local and national teams to ensure successful execution of these strategies.
  • Strengthen UnitedHealth Group's reputation and partnerships with key stakeholders in your assigned consulting firm(s).
  • Engage with the consultant community to gather insights that lead to the creation of more effective solutions for employers and their beneficiaries.
  • Utilize a diverse set of management and problem-solving skills while working across various business functions to define innovative solutions and achieve results.
  • Deliver results at the opportunity level through collaboration with internal client development and management teams.

Representative Functions:

  • Drive net growth of our business with the assigned consulting firm(s) and enhance our Net Promoter Score across these relationships.
  • Build and maintain personal relationships with key consultants at all levels within the assigned firm(s).
  • Support local markets in achieving business objectives.
  • Own the planning of consultant relationships for both new and existing business, setting long-term, mid-range, and short-term goals and actions.
  • Establish a strong voice and relationship with UnitedHealth Group leadership while influencing employer strategy.
  • Position yourself as a leader and coordinate with business partners across the organization.
  • Ensure consultants have the necessary relationship development opportunities across UnitedHealth Group and monitor relationship status, addressing issues as needed.
  • Lead engagement strategies and agendas with assigned firm(s) to drive business plans through annual consultant events and national leadership meetings.
  • Oversee regular communications with consultants to ensure effective message delivery.
  • Initiate the development of national solutions that streamline interactions with consultants.
  • Lead the resolution of any issues that may arise within the organization.
  • Collect market feedback on our offerings and leverage this information to enhance our services for employers and members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 10+ years of substantial business management experience in the health insurance sector, particularly serving the Fortune 1000 marketplace.
  • Experience in the National Account health plan space or with a major consulting/brokerage firm.
  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA.
  • Actuarial experience.
  • Fundamental understanding of the financial levers of our business and their impact on employers.
