Position Summary:

The School Technology Specialist is responsible for integrating and managing technology to enhance the work of staff and educational experiences of students. This position collaborates with educators, students, school administrators, and the Children’s Center staff to ensure effective use of hardware, software, networks and platforms as it relates to Whitney Hall School.


COMPETENCIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with tasks related to state testing
  • Assist with the Teacher-Course-Student (TCS) report
  • Assist with Connecticut Special Education Data System (CT-SEDS)
  • Assign and unassign Chromebooks and other devices to students and staff
  • Resolve issues with User IDs, Passwords and other accessibility issues
  • Oversees school and agency databases and networks as it relates to Whitney Hall School
  • Works with teachers to integrate technology into the classroom to enhancing student learning
  • Work closely with school administrators to develop and implement technology plans and policies
  • Leads in the inventory, ordering, management, repair and troubleshooting of student used devices
  • Enroll students in online learning and assessment platforms and troubleshoot accessibility issues
  • Provides training and ongoing support to school staff on the use of educational tools and platforms
  • Stays updated on educational technology trends and recommends new tools and practices to improve teaching, learning and assessment
  • Leads in the planning, processing and distribution of report cards, including grades, suggested credits, GPA, teacher comments, behavioral data and attendance
  • Other duties as assigned by school administration

Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree in educational technology, Information Technology, or a related field, preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in an educational setting, preferably as a technology specialist, coach or a similar role.

Skills: Strong technical skills, proactive problem solver, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to train and support staff, ability to work with state department of education platforms.


This position will follow the Whitney Hall School calendar year plus 20 additional days determined in collaboration with the Whitney Hall School Administration.
This position is a 46-week a year position, teacher work year plus 20 additional days. 35hrs per week. Non-Exempt
