The Accounting Associate reports to the Payroll Accounting Supervisor of MWG Payroll Solutions. The position is a non-exempt, hourly role and is located at 500 Steed Road, Ridgeland, MS 39157.


GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Payroll Accountant's primary role is to perform the daily accounting functions required to meet the regulatory obligations of the clients supported by MWG Payroll Solutions and those required by Morgan White Group's accounting policies and procedures. At no time will any accounting personnel assume any responsibility by providing tax or legal advice to a client or a client's representative. To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Successfully complete assigned training courses utilizing the iSolved University system.
  • Apply the training received through the iSolved University and provided by their supervisor to accurately and timely process, pay, file, and report the taxes and returns as required by the client service agreement.
  • Ensures MWG Payroll Solutions bank accounts are balanced daily and report discrepancies to the Accounting Supervisor.
  • Obtains and submits ACH and transmittal files to the bank ensuring correction of impound dates and emails a copy of the transmittal to MWG accounting department to ensure approval of all transactions.
  • Creates and records MWG Payroll Solution payroll journal entries in the Morgan White Group accounting software.
  • Creates and records MWG Payroll Solution tax journal entries in the Morgan White Group accounting software upon the completion of the Payroll Tax Specialist submitting the payments to the various tax agencies.
  • Confirm the proper supporting documents are on record and are readily available for research, audits and review.
  • Assists in the reconciliation of quarterly tax returns.
  • Assists in the timely filing of State and Federal tax returns on the client's behalf.
  • Submits general ledger entries weekly for review and recording by MWG accounting department.
  • Ensures direct deposits are transferred to the bank in a timely manner.
  • Perform all operations in accordance with company policies, procedures, and processes. Make recommendations when needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Accounting Supervisor, Payroll Solutions Manager, or VP of Business Solutions.



EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with Payroll software systems is a plus.
  • Previous experience in Accounting or related field is a plus.
  • Must be proficient in computer skills and have strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Windows, Excel, Teams, and Word.
  • Must have above an average capability using formulas and pivot tables in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must possess time management, organizational, problem solving, and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to multitask while maintaining attention to details.

  • Must be able to perform in a very high paced environment and professionally handle interruptions.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks, work multiple projects simultaneously, and meet project deadlines.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving skills and have keen attention to details.

  • Must be able to handle stressful situations appropriately.
  • Must maintain confidentiality and privacy in every aspect of the job.
