Position: Senior Tax Manager

Classification: Exempt

Salary Level: Senior Manager

Reporting Structure: Reports to Partner

Job Summary

The Senior Tax Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing and reviewing client engagements. This position requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while ensuring seamless workflow among team members. The Senior Manager will provide support to associates and senior associates on technical matters and software applications. Regular communication with clients is essential to foster strong relationships and deliver high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of supervising projects and special assignments in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service and identifying opportunities for additional value.
  • Oversee the preparation of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and completeness while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Proactively identify tax issues and planning opportunities, communicating findings to the Manager, Senior Manager, or Partner.
  • Delegate tasks to team members based on their expertise and capabilities.
  • Facilitate training and development for staff, providing constructive feedback on their work.
  • Ensure all client deliverables, including working papers and tax returns, meet professional standards and are prepared accurately.
  • Engage in practice development initiatives to expand service offerings to clients.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the firm's operations, including billing, collections, and staff utilization.
  • Participate in development programs and mentor new hires.
  • Commit to learning new technologies introduced by the firm relevant to the practice area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

Provide guidance and on-the-job training to junior staff members.

Work Environment

This position may be performed in an office setting or remotely. Candidates should be located within the appropriate time zones for consideration.

Physical Requirements
  • Extended periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.

Travel Requirements

Minimal travel expected (25% or less).

Qualifications
  • A minimum of seven (7) to nine (9) years of tax experience in public accounting or consulting, demonstrating increasing complexity in project management.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • A current and valid CPA license is mandatory.
  • Membership in good standing with the AICPA and relevant state societies is required.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and technology relevant to the practice area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CCH ProSystemfx or CCH Axcess is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with multi-state corporations and ASC 740 is advantageous.
