We are looking for a full time Unit Coordinator to join our amazing Orthopedic team in Salmon Creek, WA. The Unit Coordinator will provide oversite of the daily workflow and support the clinical staff with administrative and technical assistance. The ideal candidate will possess great organizational skills and energy, a can-do attitude, a desire to learn the practice, and a collaborative team spirit. The candidate will also possess excellent interpersonal skills, a superior commitment to patient care, and the ability to work closely with patients and physicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete patient visits ensuring that all orders have been addressed, including the return appointment. Provide the completed After Visit Summary to the patient.
  • Assist with triage of phone overflow from Call Center.
  • Watch patient flow, keeps the wait time module updated, and with MA rounding.
  • Answer the telephone, take messages and give routine information in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assist with obtaining lab reports, hospital reports, dictation, x-rays, and correspondence.
  • Schedule patients for testing procedures.
  • Assist with authorization of testing as necessary and as time allows.
  • Review appointment schedule and assist receptionist with physician’s patient schedule.
  • Work with Medical Assistants and other staff as needed to facilitate quality patient care.
  • Participate in tasking groups and respond to tasks daily.
  • Handle and document prescription refills as needed.
  • Document all clinical related transactions in the electronic medical records as indicated in clinic operating policies.
  • Retrieve patient x-rays from various PACS systems as needed to support the physician and patient flow. Retrieve medical records as necessary.
  • Interact with physicians, staff and patients in a positive manner to deliver the Rebound quality of care.
  • Issue out-patient materials. Assist in application and patient instruction.
  • Coordinate the needs of the unit ensuring that supplies are stocked in both the unit and the exam rooms.
  • Keep current on OSHA and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Work at different Rebound locations as needed and scheduled by supervisor.
  • Attend required meetings, and in-services, and participate in committees as requested.
  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Medical Terminology classes preferred.
  • Two years of medical office related experience, Neurosurgery or Orthopedics experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of health care environment including; medical office policies and procedures and human resource management practices.
  • Have excellent analytical skills, assist in the development and revision of complex schedules, work independently, but also as part of the team.
  • Strong written communication, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, make decision, and implement change.
  • Ability to establish priorities, organize, and coordinate work activities in a constantly changing environment with fluctuating patient volumes.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to see the broad, overall impact of the role and functioning of the unit.
