Primary Purpose:

Oversees the Museum’s visitor experience and helps lead the Gallery Hosts.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as a role model for staff by providing world class customer service to Museum visitors.
  • Protects the Museum and its collection by enforcing all applicable Museum rules and regulations. Ensures that Gallery Hosts do the same.
  • Makes regular rounds to ensure that staff members are in their assigned locations, dressed appropriately and performing job duties as assigned. Provides motivation, support, and/or coaching to help the Gallery Hosts be their best.
  • Provide leadership and direction to ensure safety and security in the event of emergencies within the museum. Submit timely incident reports to Executive Team.
  • Listens to visitor feedback and works to find a solution to concerns.
  • Assists with hiring and scheduling of staff.
  • Oversees frontline admissions, event ticketing, membership sales, museum shop sales, and class registrations.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with multiple departments
  • Serves as Museum management’s primary point of contact during some evening and weekend hours.
  • Functions as a substitute or supplement to gallery hosts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Extensive customer service experience required. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Understands how to prioritize and delegate tasks as needed. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, diverse multi-tasked environment and be receptive to changing priorities. Must be able to effectively handle day to day interactions with museum staff and the public. Must genuinely enjoy direct interaction with a broad variety of people.

Working Conditions:

Requires intermittent sitting and standing /walking throughout the day and constant interaction with the public and employees. Weekends and evening work are required. General work schedule is Tuesday-Saturday.

Physical Requirements:

Stooping, kneeling, bending, standing, squatting/crouching, crawling/kneeling, pushing/pulling, climbing (ladders) and reaching above the shoulders and lifting of up to 50 lbs. Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as furniture, file cabinets, equipment, boxes, etc. will be required.
