Role Summary: The Linen Services Associate plays a crucial role in managing linen supplies within the healthcare environment. This position is tasked with performing linen inventories and ensuring that linen supplies are restocked to meet established standards. The associate will assist healthcare staff in maintaining linen carts and closets, as well as managing the collection of soiled linens for laundry processing.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct intake, sorting, and laundering of used linens.
  2. Organize and maintain linens in designated areas to ensure neatness and accessibility.
  3. Perform inventory counts and restock linens to designated levels as per schedule.
  4. Gather all soiled linens from assigned areas, including utility closets and chute rooms.
  5. Adhere to all protocols related to Joint Commission and Infection Control standards.
  6. Respond promptly to communications from various units, addressing customer concerns effectively.
  7. Maintain accurate records of communications in the linen room log.
  8. Represent Shared Hospital Services and the healthcare facility with professionalism and courtesy at all times.
  9. Assist the delivery personnel with linen distribution and other tasks as directed by management.

Essential Qualifications:

  1. Ability to lift weights ranging from 25 to 50 pounds consistently.
  2. Capability to push or pull linen bins weighing up to 700 pounds.
  3. Proficiency in repetitive movements such as grasping, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, and stooping.
  4. Willingness to stand or walk throughout the entire work shift.
  5. Ability to follow instructions and interact effectively with colleagues, healthcare staff, patients, visitors, and management.
  6. Demonstrated ability to count accurately and perform basic arithmetic.
  7. Dependability and punctuality are essential traits.
  8. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as required by operational needs.
