REPORTING RELATIONSHIP & FUNCTIONAL ROLE

This person reports directly to the Finance and Accounting Manager.  The Staff Accountant is responsible for reconciling, reporting, analyzing, and other Accounting functions.

REQUIREMENTS & CONDITIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum two years of work experience with general ledger accounting, cost accounting, fixed assets, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation and analysis.
  • Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Computer knowledge with average to advanced skills using Microsoft Office products. ERP experience is preferred.

  • Physical Requirements: Standing, sitting, climbing, walking, crouching, stooping, twisting, and bending.
  • Working Conditions/Environment: Primarily office settings with occasional exposure to shop conditions lacking central heat or air conditioning.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close, adherence to proper US GAAP recording and classifications, maintain and update accounting records, consistent financial reporting and variance analysis.
  • Responsible for journal entries for balance sheet, revenues, expenses, daily bank/cash movements, and intercompany activities. Assist with producing and analyzing financial statements and other ad hoc reports.
  • Identify, investigate, analyze, and report on variances to prior periods and budget.
  • Update daily cash reconciliations, cash projections, and line of credit utilization. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
  • Calculate and process monthly sales commissions. Process bi-weekly payroll.
  • Other accounting responsibilities include prepaids, amortization, inventory, fixed assets additions and disposals, depreciation, recording and accruing expenses, sales and use tax tracking and reporting, property rendition and property tax reporting, and updating other ledgers and schedules as assigned.
  • Serve as backup to AR and AP.
  • Safeguard and protect the company’s confidential information.
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of processes, procedures, work instructions and guidelines.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
