Pay: $20-$23 per hour
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The CPS performs a wide range of tasks to assist individuals of all ages in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their recovery process. Kyros peers will provide peer recovery support services on a one-to-one and group basis to an individual in recovery.
CPS provides many different types of support, including
- Emotional (empathy and concern)
- Informational (connections to information and referrals to community resources that support health and wellness)
- Instrumental (concrete supports such as housing or employment)
- Affiliate support (connections to recovery community supports, activities, sponsored meetings, and events).
These supports help people in recovery build recovery capital-the internal and external resources necessary to begin and maintain recovery (Best & Laudet, 2010; Cloud & Granfield, 2008).
Additional skills and abilities include:
- Non-clinical recovery support assists the transition from treatment into the recovery community.
- Motivational interviewing and active listening skills to further support their clients
- Ability to understand and meet the needs of the patient through respectful, courteous, and caring interactions with patients, families, and other health professionals
- Knows, understands and adheres to organizational policy related to the patient's rights to confidential care
- Actively participates and works positively, flexibly, and cooperatively in a team effort to accomplish the goals of Kyros Recovery
- Ability to work with health personnel and clients of varying ethnic backgrounds
- Must be flexible and self-directed
- Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of the recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established standardized mental health processes
- Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem-solving strategies to support individual clients in self-directed recovery
- Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental illness and the ability to assist the client in addressing symptoms using strategies such as positive self-talk or accessing mental health services available
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and the ability to teach those skills to other individuals
- Manages time effectively and prioritizes task completion to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of pertinent governmental regulations
Education, Experience, Requirements:
- Have a minimum of 3 months of work experience as a Certified Peer Supporter (CPS)
- Have a GED or high school diploma
- A commitment of 1 hour of supervision is required on a weekly basis.
- All client billing (client visits)will be on a 1:1 or individual basis or within a group setting
- Current valid driver’s license for peers providing transportation services.
- Consistent access to a reliable vehicle with active insurance in your name, for peers providing transportation services.
- Self-declaration of recovery from Substance Use for 1 year or longer.
- Peer must be based in Ohio
- Access to a reliable computer, tablet, or laptop and a mobile device

Kyros makes reasonable efforts to limit employees' access to and use of protected health information (PHI) to the minimum necessary performance of assigned duties as outlined in job descriptions. HIPAA-compliant EHR and telehealth platforms are enabled.
Physical Demands:
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.
