Peer Recovery Support Specialist

Summary:
A Peer Recovery Support Specialist provides support to individuals in recovery from mental health and/or substance use disorders. This role requires a strong understanding of addiction as an illness and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acts as a role model for clients in recovery, using various techniques to facilitate their journey.
- Instructs individuals about services provided to aid in recovery and mentors them in the recovery process.
- Provides information and assists individuals with applying for supplemental programs and completing forms.
- Develops services and supports to identify gaps in care for individuals with mental health or co-occurring disorders.
- Participates on treatment teams with client consent and collaborates with staff to assist with intake and discharge planning.
- Acts as a liaison between clients and staff, relaying information to medical professionals and other stakeholders as needed.
Requirements:
- Must adhere to the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board's Code of Ethics.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and good computer skills.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with diverse clients and staff.
- Must be eligible to obtain Certified Peer Recovery Supporter (CPRS) certification.
