About the Role:

OhioGuidestone is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Recovery Supporter to join our team. As a Peer Recovery Supporter, you will provide community-based services to individuals with mental illness or substance use disorders, promoting recovery, self-determination, and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sobriety support services and inspire hope of recovery from addiction or co-occurring disorders.
  • Meet with clients regularly, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Connect clients to needed community resources and help them expand their sober support network.
  • Assist clients in developing empowerment skills, reducing discrimination, and inspiring hope.
  • Support clients in achieving personal recovery goals and developing life skills for independence.
  • Address barriers to recovery and provide support to maintain recovery and reduce relapse.
  • Teach clients to effectively navigate the healthcare delivery system and promote coordination and linkage among similar providers.
  • Attend meetings, child visitation, and court hearings with clients as needed.
  • Explore recovery needs and develop a Recovery Support Plan with each client.
  • Perform related administrative responsibilities, maintaining client information, reports, records, and other documents.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must satisfy relevant state requirements for Certified Peer Recovery Supporter.
  • Work and/or volunteer experience as a Recovery Coach and knowledge of court and county resources preferred.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
  • Ability to take and pass a physical exam, tuberculosis test, and drug screening.
  • Employment is contingent upon clear results of a thorough background check.
