General Summary

The Construction Representative / Inspector (CRI) is responsible for assuring performance objectives and standards are identified and met, recommending corrective actions when problems are detected, and following up to ensure that PWO projects are completed to a satisfactory standard. The CRI may conduct site visits, meet with subcontractors or in-house technicians, or assist the PWO department at the discretion of the PWO Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect work performed to ensure appropriate quality
  • Maintain records of inspections and certifications
  • Examine processes for preventative and corrective maintenance; make suggestions based on finding
  • Schedules/performs inspections/re-inspections to ensure problems have been resolved
  • Conduct over the shoulder (work in progress) maintenance quality control inspections
  • Conduct customer satisfaction surveys regarding work completed on-site
  • Gather monthly inspection data and prepare and submit reports to PWO Manager for comparison to contract
  • Communicate with management regarding feedback from inspections and customer related issues to ensure contract compliance
  • Conduct supervisor and employee training regarding company policies and procedures involving quality control inspections
  • Research quality related information; incorporate information into policies and procedures
  • The CRI shall be on site during the Government’s regular working hours however may be required to work off hours to accomplish the role
  • Monitoring the workplace to identify and correct nonconforming conditions and improper or unsafe work practices
  • Overseeing implementation of project and company policies and procedures
  • Interfacing with the PWO Manager and project management to keep them informed of the status of the projects and to report any adverse conditions
  • Ensuring that deficiencies are reported and recorded, and that projects are not closed out until corrective actions are taken
  • Ensuring documentation of the effectiveness and timeliness of corrective actions
  • Reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and the soundness of conclusions
  • Overseeing implementation of client’s satisfaction measurement process
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements

  • Minimum of three years experience in maintenance, repair, construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and proficiency with construction management
  • Have a background in facility operation and maintenance, construction, or a related field.
  • Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use a computer and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Work Environment

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a full range of climatic weather conditions. Required to wear protective clothing and devices as needed. Subjected to hazardous gases, high pressure gases, hot liquids, dirt, dust, and oil/grease. Requires physical dexterity, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting objects to perform duties. Physical demands include ascending and descending ladders, scaffolds, and platforms. Accessing roofs, cramped equipment rooms, and other confined spaces.

  • Excessive temperatures ranging from 10&degree;F to 120&degree; F
  • Possible exposure to hazardous materials, requiring use of respirators and personal protective safety attire and equipment.
  • May require entering confined spaces such as ductwork, pits, and crawl spaces.
  • Ability to push 50 pounds (maintenance equipment); ability to lift minimum of 50 pounds (supplies and equipment)
