Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Vera’s lead product candidate is atacicept, a fully humanized fusion protein self-administered as a subcutaneous injection once weekly that blocks both B -cell activating factor (BAFF) and a proliferation inducing ligand (APRIL), which stimulate B cells and plasma cells to produce galactose deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) and associated auto-antibodies which together form immune complexes which are fundamental in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy (IgAN). In addition, Vera is also considering evaluating the role of atacicept in other immunologic disorders. Additionally, Vera is developing MAU868, a monoclonal antibody designed to neutralize infection with BK Virus, a polyomavirus that can have devastating consequences in certain settings such as kidney transplant. Position Summary:
The Vice President Medical Affairs, Field Medical Team Leader will lead a rapidly expanding field medical affairs team as part of a fast-paced and collaborative medical affairs organization. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, this role will be responsible for establishing a long-term vision and strategy for the field medical affairs team at Vera Therapeutics. The Vice President Medical Affairs, Field Medical Team Leader will have overall responsibility for the future building, leading, and supporting of the medical field force. While managing and providing strategic direction for the medical field team, this position will also focus on developing relationships with the external scientific and the medical community. This leader will be a key collaborator with other key internal cross-functional stakeholders including the commercial team in launch planning and the clinical operations team to support ongoing trial recruitment and conductance. Additionally, this leadership position will be responsible for developing strategy and building resources for the medical affairs team to support the value story for atacicept and support and workstreams related to market access.
Responsibilities:
- Establish a long-term vision and strategy for the US medical affairs team.
- Collaborate with other members of the Medical Affairs team with regards to key activities including congress planning and development of educational programs.
- Will be critically involved in defining and helping establish relationships with external communities such as KOLs.
- Use both advanced functional and business knowledge to effectively align MSL team's work with other leaders to accomplish functional and cross-functional business goals and objectives.
- Manage and help build an MSL team made up of diverse top talent and evaluate appropriate size and geography for the team over time.
- Develop field medical strategy to support the value of atacicept in collaboration with internal commercial stakeholders
Qualifications:
- PharmD, PhD., in Life Sciences, or M.D.
- Minimum 10 years Medical Affairs experience.
- Minimum of 5 years MSL leadership experience (National level preferred) leading teams to consistently achieve team and individual success.
- Experience in facilitating external relationships, as well as a track record of success interacting with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in supporting product launches and support of product value story preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of organization and externally.
- Strong background in immunology or renal diseases.
- Excellent leadership and influencing skills with ability to think creatively and innovatively.
- Team-player comfortable in fast-moving, dynamic environments.

Vera Therapeutics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the starting anticipated base pay range is $261,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geography, qualifications, skills, and experience.
At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity. Vera Therapeutics also offers various benefits offerings, including, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k match, flexible time off, and a number of paid holidays.
