General Description / Position Summary


The Benefit Services Outreach (BSO) Supervisor will report directly to the Benefit Services Manager and have performance oversight of all BSO staff. The BSO Supervisor will lead all daily operations of the Benefit Services Outreach team/sites, Three Square Center, interns and volunteers within the call center.



Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages all call center volunteer activity including scheduling, recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers, interns, AARP’s RSVP program, and UNLV Scholars. This includes establishing and maintaining relationships within AARP, UNLV, NSU, and CSN.
  • Represents Three Square at community and governmental meetings to share pertinent updates and resources as well as communicate information back to the Three Square team.
  • Manages all staff scheduling (booking sites, apartments and events), outreach marketing, and outreach site cultivation.
  • Provides motivation to the team in maintaining the highest level of Benefit Outreach assistance in the community.
  • Provides guidance and accountability by effectively communicating with the team all department’s standards and expectations, in order to achieve the highest level of Benefit Services Outreach assistance to the community.
  • Acts as a liaison with other community organizations to ensure a seamless referral process. Will serve as the main contact person for all emergency cases of our daily operations and will recommend resolutions, as well as be the main point for all Golden Groceries related matters.
  • Provides follow-up with Program Partners when concerns have been raised concerning the Staff, services, clients, or the program Partner sites.
  • Conducts periodic staff evaluations and random informal site visits.
  • Maintains program compliance within the Senior Hunger Department, and will partner with the Senior Hunger Program team to continuously improve customer service and client satisfaction. The BSO Supervisor will be responsible for handling all required training for the department.
  • Assists with the development of grants and/or budgets related to the BSO Programs.
  • Assists the Benefit Services Outreach Manager in monitoring Strategic Plan goals and assessing efficiency and quality of application services.
  • Works with the Benefit Services Outreach Manager to identify issues and areas of program improvement concerning the staff, services, clients, or the program Partner Sites that need to be resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develops and initiates a plan to correct program issues, in collaboration with the Manager as appropriate.
  • Communicates effectively through various channels with partners and team members to keep them abreast of all current and/or changing guidelines and other pertinent compliance information.
  • Provides regular reports of progress, status, areas of opportunity, and accomplishments to the Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manages confidential information.
  • Perform all the essential job functions of a BSO Advocate:
  1. Provide all potential SNAP, EAP (Energy Assistance Program), Medicaid and Medicare Part D clients with eligibility prescreening and application assistance, and coach them on the types of information needed to complete the application process and receive benefits.
  2. Conduct Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) interviews as required for the approval of benefits.
  3. Upload client applications to the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services website to help ensure a timely determination.
  4. Distribute all relevant promotional materials and advertising.
  5. Attend community events as needed to assist attendees with SNAP and EAP applications and referrals to other services.
  6. Perform marketing and advertising duties at affordable housing complexes around the valley to inform residents about upcoming outreach visits.


Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Two years of relevant experience in the anti-hunger and/or anti-poverty movement. College degree preferred. Additional education may be substituted for experience.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, ability to handle interruptions, maintains focus on tasks and produce accurate work.
  • Excellent problem solving and planning skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Staff and Program Partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office environment (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and standard office equipment.
  • Safe driving record, current vehicle insurance and ability to use personal vehicle for Three Square business.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Able to take direction well, using good listening skills

  • Effective public speaking and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines



Work Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office or at a variety of community agencies. Employee will use computer and phones extensively and will drive for work performed in the community. Occasional work outside of normal working hours, such as evenings, as well as periodic travel will be required.
