Position Summary
The Outreach Services Supervisor for Benefits will report to the Benefit Services Manager and oversee the performance of all outreach staff. This role is essential in managing the daily functions of the Benefit Services Outreach team, including interns and volunteers within the operational center.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees all volunteer activities within the outreach center, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and retention of volunteers, interns, and partners.
- Represents the organization at community and governmental meetings to provide updates and resources while ensuring effective communication back to the team.
- Manages staff scheduling, outreach marketing efforts, and the cultivation of outreach sites.
- Motivates the team to deliver the highest level of outreach assistance to the community.
- Communicates department standards and expectations to ensure accountability and quality of service.
- Acts as a liaison with community organizations to facilitate a smooth referral process and address emergency operational issues.
- Follows up with program partners regarding any concerns related to staff, services, or partner sites.
- Conducts staff evaluations and informal site visits to assess performance.
- Ensures compliance within the department and collaborates with the team to enhance customer service and satisfaction.
- Assists in the development of program-related grants and budgets.
- Supports the Benefit Services Manager in monitoring strategic goals and assessing service quality.
- Identifies and addresses program improvement areas in collaboration with the manager.
- Develops corrective action plans for program issues as necessary.
- Maintains effective communication with partners and team members regarding guidelines and compliance updates.
- Provides regular progress reports to the manager, highlighting opportunities and achievements.
- Handles confidential information responsibly.
- Performs essential functions of a Benefit Outreach Advocate, including:
- Providing eligibility prescreening and application assistance for various assistance programs.
- Conducting interviews for program approvals as required.
- Uploading client applications to relevant websites to ensure timely processing.
- Distributing promotional materials and advertising.
- Participating in community events to assist with applications and referrals.
- Marketing outreach visits to affordable housing complexes.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish is advantageous.
- Two years of relevant experience in anti-hunger or anti-poverty initiatives; a college degree is preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in managing multiple projects with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem-solving and planning abilities.
- Capability to establish effective working relationships with staff and partners.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.
- Valid driver's license and insurance, with the ability to use a personal vehicle for work-related tasks.
- Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Strong listening skills and ability to follow directions.
- Exceptional public relations and customer service skills.
- Effective public speaking and presentation abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Work Environment
Work is generally performed in an office setting or at various community agencies. The role requires extensive use of computers and phones, along with travel for community engagements. Occasional evening work and periodic travel may be necessary.
