Title: Human Resources Operations & Special Projects Supervisor

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Vice President of Human Resources

Direct Reports: HR Staff Members as assigned.

Summary of Position: The HR Operations Supervisor oversees and manages the day-to-day HR operations functions to include benefits, leaves of absence, HRIS, compliance and special projects. This role manages a team of 2-3 HR professionals, providing leadership and guidance, and ensuring that all HR operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3- 5 years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • PHR preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administers and oversees employee benefit programs.
  • Ensures successful annual open enrollment process to include ADP enrollment system, set up of new file feeds with carriers, benefits education, broker communication, etc.
  • Ensures benefit reconciliation process is implemented and monitored.
  • Oversees and ensures compliance with leaves of absence policies and guidelines.
  • Manages ADA compliance.
  • Conducts regular audits of I-9s, benefits, leaves, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Oversee the HRIS system and ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Monitor and analyze HR metrics and provide regular reports to senior management on HR operations and trends
  • Serves as a back-up to the HRIS Specialist and Benefits/Leave Specialist
  • Manage HR projects and initiatives as assigned
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
