Senior Grants Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

In this role, the Senior Grants Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of our grants and contracts, pre- and post-award, serving as the primary fiscal contact for sub-recipients and funders. The Senior Grants Accountant will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (Program Directors/Managers and funders) during pre-award phase on financial aspects of grant implementation and throughout lifecycle of grant; lead all financial aspects of grant-related post award functions, including billing/vouchering, budget, and expense analysis to ensure accuracy of revenue and expenditures, financial reporting to ensure adherence to regulations, and reconciliations to ensure timeliness of reporting.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand all requirements and ensure compliance with all grants and contracts.
  • Coordinate the budget process for all assigned grants/contracts.
  • Compile various reports and analyze financial information for grants and other restricted funds.
  • Review supporting documentation for all expenses to be charged to grants.
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies for all assigned funds/accounts/grants.
  • Maintain supplemental schedules and files to support reports to grantors and other agencies.
  • Responsible for various strategic projects to enhance fiscal grant processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors/Managers to ensure accurate financial reporting and to provide support as they monitor their budgets and track their program expenses.
  • Ensure that all services are maintained in accordance with the Agency’s mission and goals.
  • Provide related assistance wherever necessary to help the Agency achieve its goals and embrace and promote the Vera House mission.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related business field, or equivalent combination of education and experience in general accounting, budget planning, and grants management.
  • 3 - 5 years minimum work experience in non-profit administration.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management.
  • Strong background in grant management in the non-profit sector including demonstrated understanding of contract administration, funding sources, compliance requirements, and related federal policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Displayed problem solving, creative/analytic thinking skills, and organization skills.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
  • Ability to independently handle varied work assignments and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and customer service- oriented.
  • Demonstrated commitment to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven ability to manage time, evaluate progress, and adjust activities to complete assignments within established time frames.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail as it relates to developing and monitoring through realistic financial plans.

SALARY RANGE

$55k-$65k annual (exempt)
