PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Actively manage all corporate safety policy/procedures.

  • Conduct accident investigations on all incidents that occur.

  • Continuously observe and evaluate work conditions and work procedures to detect and correct unsafe conditions, practices, or environmental issues.

  • Work with supervisors / foremen in establishing a proactive safety culture on all jobsites.

  • Assist in the identification (and purchase or requisition of, if needed) of any safety specific equipment required for the scope of work.

  • Continually motivate employees and management staff to follow safety policies/programs.

  • Provide feedback to supervisors/foremen & management staff on safety issues that are discovered on their jobsites. This shall include support in mitigating said issues.

  • Ensure that all necessary and needed safety training is completed on all jobsites in order to comply with any pertinent federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Identify and correct any safety training deficiencies by conducting the necessary training to employees. This shall include scheduling, planning, and coordinating any lessons needed.

  • Actively participate in any coordination, planning or scheduling meetings held by BESCO management.

  • Visit each jobsite within the division monthly as a minimum.

  • Prepare jobsite audit reports for field management staff. A minimum of three jobsite audits are to be completed weekly.

  • Follow up on any corrections / recommendations that are made on any jobsite to ensure compliance.

  • Ensure all life safety equipment, and protective devices are properly maintained, in good working order, accounted for, and properly utilized. This includes but is not limited to: arc rated or FR safety gear, air monitors, confined space entry equipment, and insulated equipment.

  • Observe the operation of fleet vehicles to ensure they are being operated safety and according to any pertinent federal, state, and local laws/regulations.

  • Actively support and safety promotional measures/programs.

  • Ensure all subcontractors are familiar with and compliant in corporate safety policy.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related field is preferred.
  • 4-5 years’ related work experience
  • OSHA 30 Certification is required.
  • OSHA 500 certification is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clear objectives, provide feedback and suggest improvement.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (technical writing skills strongly desired)
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to traverse job site and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping and carrying materials.
  • Ability to travel as needed
