Safety Coordinator

SUMMARY:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for working with the Safety and Security team to ensure all polices, processes, and procedures related to KARM safety and security are accurately and efficiently carried out as well as nurturing an environment that is welcoming and supportive of guests who might be experiencing trauma. This person takes responsibility for the safety and security of our facilities while offering overwhelming Biblical hospitality in all aspects of what we do. The Safety Coordinator works alongside our staff, guards, ministry helpers, volunteers, and guests to carry out safety initiatives and directives. This person also performs necessary tasks to maintain, clean, and improve KARM facilities.
DUTIES:
- Maintain daily and periodic checklists and standards for essential safety duties
- Exhibit overwhelming biblical hospitality in all aspects of service, ensuring a positive welcoming experience for guests, volunteers, ministry helpers, and staff.
- Coordinate with guards and Director of Guest Hospitality to ensure all safety and security policies, processes, and procedures are carried out.
- Coordinate work processes and initiatives with other departments as needed
- Coordinate scheduling of security and hospitality staff
- Partner with facilities team to keep KARM campus free of debris and litter
- Perform regular rounds to assist guests with being in appropriate areas at appropriate times
- Exhibit a caring Christian lifestyle to all guests, staff and volunteers
- Ensure safety and compliance with policies and procedures
- Conduct regular safety inspections and take steps to resolve issues
- Conduct screening of guests including scanning cards, metal detector usage, and bag
- Complete incident reports as appropriate
- Maintain a current list of safety projects
- Respond to facility emergencies as needed, including after hours
- Work shifts as guard (including overnight/weekend) if call outs prevent adequate guard coverage
- Perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS:
- Commitment to Christian faith required
- 2 years relevant experience
- Knowledge of the State of Tennessee expectations of Licensed Security
- Ability to remain calm and instruct others in high stress, emergency situations
- Knowledge of de-escalation strategies for guests in trauma
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Effective time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and prioritize
- Good organizational and administrative skills with demonstrated accuracy in recordkeeping
- Excellent interpersonal and relational skills
- Ability to work within time constraints and with minimal supervision
- Ability to work as part of a team and effectively adapt to change
- Working knowledge of and general experience with best practice security protocols
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Light industrial setting
- Field based with occasional travel to other KARM facilities
- Hazards associated with hands-on safety tasks
- Pushing, pulling, and lifting equipment weighing up to 120 pounds
- Pushing /pulling as much as 300 pounds on a flat cart
- Walking or standing for long periods of time; bending, stooping, crouching, climbing as needed
- Various environmental conditions (cold, hot, dusty, wet, and possible exposure to blood borne pathogens)
- Occasional required attendance at KARM special events or to host a volunteer group during weekend or evening hours
