Automation and Controls Engineer

In this automation and controls engineering role in a northern Indiana facility, you will provide technical support to production and maintenance teams by troubleshooting complex problems and implementing solutions.

Job Purpose:Provide technical support to maintenance operations, troubleshoot complex problems, determine root causes, implement solutions, and maintain documentation. Apply software and controls engineering, process control design, and support automated manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design electrical and control systems and manufacturing equipment.
Create electrical and control-wiring schematics using AUTOCAD.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and programming-related issues.
Design control logic and schematics.
Program PLCs using ladder logic and Siemens FB/STL in Step 7 and TIA.
Program and integrate HMI and SCADA systems with WinCC, WinCC Flex, and TIA.
Utilize network communication networks (Profibus, Profinet, industrial ethernet).
Apply motor control principles and variable speed drives.
Provide on-call support as needed.
Create troubleshooting and PLC training documents.
Maintain plant-wide documentation, including AutoCAD plans, PFDs, PIDs, and layouts.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.

Experience: 5 or more years of hands-on automation and controls engineering experience within a plant or systems integration capacity.

Skills:

Understanding of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and water systems.
Experience with automation projects for manufacturing or system integration.
Knowledge of automation techniques, machine control systems, programmable logic controllers, pneumatics, and computer programming.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Project management skills preferred.
