Position Overview

The role involves designing, planning, and executing project-specific control systems hardware under the guidance of the Controls Engineering Manager. The individual will manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create control system drawings using AutoCAD Electrical for client approval, installation, and maintenance documentation.
  • Develop standardized drawings for frequently utilized control panels and equipment.
  • Enhance and optimize the hardware design workflow to reduce project time and costs.
  • Ensure precision, quality, and uniformity in control hardware design documentation across projects.
  • Assess control-related challenges, communicate them to the Controls Engineering Manager, and assist in devising and implementing effective solutions.
  • Provide training to team members on the effective use of AutoCAD Electrical and established drawing templates.
  • Maintain detailed records of project budgets and outstanding issues, providing timely updates to the Project Manager.
  • Oversee the project timeline for assigned duties.
  • Assist in estimating and acquiring costs and schedules related to control hardware for project proposals and contract modifications, including materials, engineering, and installation expenses.
  • Support the Project Manager in generating precise project Change Orders.
  • Travel as required for project-related meetings, implementation, coordination, and commissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to develop commissioning and acceptance testing plans to ensure successful project delivery to the client.
  • Contribute to the creation of spare parts lists and maintenance manuals for control equipment.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Controls Engineer in material handling or machine tools, or at least six years of relevant experience.
  • Formal training or proven expertise in the software tools necessary for fulfilling the responsibilities of this position.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the National Electrical Code and associated electrical standards.
