Job Summary: The People Services Generalist will oversee all Human Resources functions in a dynamic construction environment. This role requires a proactive individual who can handle employee relations, automate processes, implement best practices, and drive HR initiatives in a rapidly changing company. The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and can multitask and adapt in a fast-paced setting.

Job Responsibilities:
Employee Onboarding and Offboarding:
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Review new hire application packages for completeness (pay rate, start date, etc.) and ensure correct personnel are included.
  • Enter new hires into Insperity and confirm enrollment with the chain of command.
  • Send new hire welcome letters and coordinate completion of Form I-9s.
  • Plan onboarding strategies and perform new employee orientations to deliver an exceptional early experience.
HR Administration:
  • Process, verify, and maintain employee records, including auditing in Insperity and locally.
  • Produce and submit reports on general HR activity.
  • Coordinate safety training and reinforce company policies, rules, and procedures to ensure employee safety.
  • Conduct and analyze exit interviews, making actionable recommendations based on data.
Employee Relations:
  • Address and resolve employee inquiries and issues.
  • Support the implementation of progressive HR practices and employee experience modernization initiatives.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a positive work environment that aligns with the company's core values of Grit, Reliability, Innovation, and Teamwork (GRIT values).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
General:
  • Positive can-do attitude and openness to trying new ways of working.
  • At least 2 years of experience as an HR Generalist.
  • Deep understanding of labor laws and employment equity regulations.
  • Efficient HR administration and people management skills.
  • Excellent record-keeping skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Technical:
  • Knowledge of HR functions and best practices.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office and related HR software.
Interpersonal:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse personalities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Remarkable organizational and conflict management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Certifications:
  • HR certification (PHR/SHRM-CP or higher).
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Industry Experience:
  • Previous experience in telecom, utility, construction, and/or engineering industries.
Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
Professional Certifications:
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
