Columbus Ohio, United States Equality Ohio Full time

Position Overview:

IMPACT STATEMENT: This role is pivotal in advancing our mission and vision.

Equality Ohio is seeking a dedicated Chief People Officer (CPO) to enhance our commitment to our workforce—encompassing both staff and Board members—and to facilitate our ongoing internal transformations that embody our principles of equity, racial justice, and inclusivity.

The CPO will have a distinct opportunity to conceptualize, design, and implement innovative, equity-centered, and large-scale organizational changes.

Our organization is currently navigating two significant transitions: the establishment of our staff bargaining unit and an executive leadership transition.

We have engaged experienced consultants to assist in recruiting our next visionary leader, managing daily operations, and conducting comprehensive assessments of our internal culture, structures, and programmatic priorities.

These assessments have highlighted the necessity for substantial investment in our organization by creating a dedicated role focused on our people, infrastructure, and operations.

The CPO will oversee a variety of essential organizational planning and operational functions, including: (1) developing and executing organizational and change management strategies, staffing plans, and internal initiatives; (2) fostering an inclusive, equity-driven organizational culture; (3) managing financial oversight and budgeting operations; and (4) crafting and implementing human resource systems, policies, and procedures that align with Equality Ohio's vision, mission, values, and collective bargaining agreement.

This full-time, exempt position will report to the Interim Executive Director until a permanent leader is appointed. The CPO will work closely with the incoming Executive Director, be part of the senior leadership team, and engage as a member of the newly formed staff JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) committee, while also being a key partner in the Labor Management Committee.

Additionally, this role will support the Board of Directors and staff the Board Finance & Administration and Governance Committees.
