Shift: 7:15AM – 2:45PM (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday)


Catholic Charities was founded in 1962 with the mission of providing wholistic care within Middle Tennessee. Our programs consist of the following’ homelessness prevention, re-housing, food distribution, emergency materials, utility payments, refugee resettlement, clinical counseling, adoption, and family support, parenting, and multi-pronged community support through neighborhood embedded family resource centers.

Job Summary:

Catholic Charities has an opening for the position of part time Hunger Relief Specialist which will be under the direction of the Hunger Relief Program Manager and will assist with daily operations of hunger relief programming, primarily in a congregant meal setting.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Regularly assists in supervising volunteer groups of all ages in hunger relief programs.
  • Communicates and regularly updates multiple community partners/agencies to best assist guests and clients.
  • Greet guests, collect data around guest number, demographics, meals served, and assistance provided.
  • Assists with inventory of supplies in all programs.
  • Assists with loading and unloading of supplies
  • Able to manage all aspects of the daily operations without on-site supervision.
  • Maintains accurate client/program records regarding services provided according to agency guidelines, using the database(s) provided by the agency and within agency time frame.
  • Actively participates in supervision sessions, periodic team meetings, and training as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Required Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma with 2 or more years of experience or associate degree.
  • Prior experience working with in-crisis populations of various mental health concerns, and economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic human relations and working with populations in need.

Required Skills:

  • This position requires flexibility in the schedule. Work is performed at multiple sites.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs. repeatedly.
  • Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with people across multiple language barriers.
  • Skills in Trauma informed de-escalation.
  • Must be able to work on a team, but also independently with little direction.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to help bring solutions to problems.
  • A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality concerning participants and fellow employees.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to learn databases, and other systems.
  • Current driver’s license required. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation.
  • Ability to coordinate and communicate with multiple organizations on projects.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
