POSITION SUMMARY:

The Food Security Program Manager is responsible for overseeing hunger relief initiatives across various agency programs. This role involves collaborating with program leaders to tailor food assistance strategies for each distinct Catholic Charities location. The manager will engage with community partners to enhance services for individuals facing food insecurity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all hunger relief initiatives, including food distribution centers and meal services in community settings.
  • Supervise daily volunteers, both groups and individuals, to support hunger relief efforts across multiple locations.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage the procurement and inventory of all program meals and food supplies.
  • Document and report on monthly inventories, donations, and volunteer contributions.
  • Ensure regular maintenance of facilities in collaboration with local partners, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Work with community organizations to improve services for clients and guests.
  • Facilitate inter-agency communication to effectively serve clients in need of hunger relief services.
  • Research and implement best practices from other Catholic Charities agencies to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of hunger relief operations at all Catholic Charities locations and provide guidance to program leaders.
  • Assess program success in meeting client needs and recommend improvements as necessary.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to staff and volunteers.
  • Provide transportation for food and supply pickups and deliveries as required.
  • Collaborate with the grants team on funding needs, grant applications, and reporting.
  • Recruit, train, and evaluate staff under direct supervision in accordance with agency policies.
  • Manage financial reporting, approve invoices, update budgets, and maintain accurate fiscal records.
  • Keep precise client and program records in line with agency guidelines, utilizing provided databases.
  • Participate actively in supervision sessions, team meetings, and training opportunities.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

This position supervises two Hunger Relief Specialists.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a related discipline.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.
  • A minimum of two years of experience working with diverse populations facing crises, including mental health challenges and socio-economic disparities.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is preferred.

  • Flexibility in work hours is required, as programs operate at various times.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across language barriers.
  • Ability to maintain a non-judgmental and respectful demeanor while establishing clear boundaries.
  • Commitment to confidentiality regarding clients and colleagues.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse families and communities, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to organize work effectively, manage pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 20 pounds and perform stocking duties as necessary.
  • Willingness to adapt to varying work schedules and respond to team and client needs.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Skills in food service management.
  • Ability to coordinate with diverse groups and manage large volunteer teams.
  • Experience in collaborating with multiple organizations on projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to learn new databases and systems as required.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a vehicle are mandatory.
