The Office of the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury oversees the auditing of state and local governmental entities while engaging in the overall financial and administrative management of state operations.

Position Overview
The Division of Property Assessments offers support, expertise, and oversight to property assessors across the state, ensuring the effective management of Tennessee's property tax system. This division also aids in reappraisal initiatives, provides technological support, and administers the Tax Relief Program.
We are looking for a Tax Relief Specialist to join our Nashville Tax Relief team. This role involves collaborating with management, staff, other state entities, and local governments to facilitate the coordination and execution of division activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Review applications to verify eligibility, accuracy, and completeness.
2. Draft correspondence for applicants and local government representatives.
3. Analyze financial information of applicants to assess eligibility.
4. Interpret legal documents to ascertain ownership.
5. Update and review tax relief reports utilized in processing.
6. Assist with general accounting responsibilities.
7. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience or education in accounting or finance is preferred.
A successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to build strong relationships with local government officials, colleagues, and other stakeholders while maintaining credibility.
Applicants should be detail-oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and be adept at interacting with diverse personalities and organizational levels. Candidates should also be capable of thriving in a modern office environment.
Other combinations of education and experience may be evaluated as equivalent for consideration.
Compensation
The Comptroller's Office provides a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package, which includes twelve days each of annual and sick leave, various insurance plans, a pension retirement plan, a 401(k), college fee waivers, and more.
