Job Summary:

This position directly reports to the CEO and collaborates closely with the COO and CMO to achieve near and long-term organizational goals. The Senior Practice Manager is responsible for the daily management and operations to ensure optimal department efficiency and profitability as well as patient, provider and employee satisfaction. The incumbent is responsible for implementation of strategic planning, program implementation, practice and operational quality improvement, financial/budget reporting and monitoring, and staff supervision. The Senior Practice Manager will partner effectively with staff and physicians to implement programs to attain the highest levels of patient focused care, provide leadership and direction within all aspects of practice activities to ensure accomplishment of organizational objectives.

Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Possess an in depth understanding of business/accounting function including: practice budgets, A/R, payroll function.

  • Understands and utilizes financial scorecard measures to benchmark, monitor, and improve financial and operational performance.

  • Ensures accurate and compliant coding practices, training staff and providers to do the same, as applicable.

  • Oversee all areas of the revenue cycle management including cash management, coding, billing, accounts receivable follow-up and patient registration.

  • Ensures surgery scheduling and insurance verification protocols are followed.

  • Demonstrates core leadership competencies (e.g., building a successful team, building organizational talent, building partnerships, coaching and developing others, using compelling communication, driving execution, leading change, leading through vision and values, selecting talent, focusing on the customer, financial acumen).

  • Prioritizes opportunities to develop employees at all levels which encourages transparency, collaboration, and an atmosphere where all employees feel respected and valued.

  • Directs practice operations, including continuous improvement, key performance metrics, productivity benchmarks, appropriate staffing, inventory control processes and facilitates purchasing in accordance with established procedures.

  • Recruits, develops, and motivates staff to ensure a highly-engaged and values-focused department.

  • Supports use of standardized Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies to achieve high value performance in all functional areas within scope of position.

  • Implement and comply with Los Angeles Bone and Joint Institute’s policies and Procedures.

  • Demonstrates accountability and follows through on assignments, projects, and tasks.

  • Maintains effective staffing levels and adequate scheduling.

  • Understands department processes, policies, and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, organization policy, and other regulatory agencies.

  • Conducts training activities and routine meetings with staff and providers to support operational functions.

  • Collaborates with other leaders as well as HR, Risk, Plant Operations, Information Systems, etc. to coordinate problem solving, training, personnel management and systems development.

Experience/Training and Other Skills :

  • Prior experience with Prop 56 and MIPS/MACRA strongly preferred.

  • Prior RCM experience is strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills required. The ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with physicians, non-physician providers, and staff while addressing complex and sensitive administrative, operational and financial issues.

  • Possess comprehensive and advanced practice practice management and leadership knowledge and skills, particularly mentoring, coaching, and conflict management and resolution, with effective facilitation of difficult conversations.

  • Ability to build and guide the implementation of planned changes, or new projects and services.

  • Able to function independently as well as part of a team.

  • Effective planning, budgeting and time management ability required to carry out department responsibilities.

  • Able to work irregular hours as needed under conditions of high stress.

  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite. Professional appearance and attitude. Utilizes mental perception, analysis, and organizational skills to supervise departments.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, business administration or other relevant field is preferred.
