As an established locally owned company, Island Signal & Sound Inc specializes in installing and servicing Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Commercial Sound systems for a wide range of building occupancies from small retail spaces and warehouses to large healthcare facilities and high-rise hotels.
Overview
As a Fire Security and Communications Systems Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper operation of commercial security and life/safety systems. Your responsibilities will include adhering to applicable codes, delivering exceptional customer service, and upholding our company’s standards of performance and professionalism.
Responsibilities
• Work with low voltage wiring and associated devices for the operation of low voltage equipment.
• Testing, inspection and certification of customer electronic systems in accordance with manufacturer standards, document and identify deficiencies.
• Install, program, and test new fire alarm, security and communications systems in accordance with manufacturer standards
• Reporting daily on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material.
• Repair/Replace impaired deficient devices and make program changes to systems as required.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot various system issues that may arise.
• Maintain a professional relationship with all customers
• Provide technical training to less senior technicians or trainees
• Completion of daily tasks, including work orders and timesheets
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• State Certification of Fitness must be obtained within two years of start date
• Experience with hand tools and multimeter usage
• Demonstrated aptitude for troubleshooting systems and performing necessary repairs.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Reliable and trustworthy.
• An excellent communicator that works well in teams/alone.
• Proficiency with Computer skills.
• Detail oriented and able to Maintain accurate records of jobs and work performed
• Ability to handle all of the general physical activity that comes with working in the construction field (i.e. stand for most of the day, climb ladders and stairs, lift and carry up to 50 lbs to move equipment and tools with considerable bending, stooping, and kneeling)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug test.
• Valid driver's license with an excellent driving record.
• Flexibility to work a schedule that may include overnight interisland travel, long hours, and working weekends, holidays, and nights.
Preferred
• NICET Certification
• Two (2) years of experience with fire alarms and/or Security and Communications systems
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, programs schematics and operational/product manuals.

The pay range for this role is $20.00-$38.00 an hour and is based on experience and qualifications.
