- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited education institution, and must also have had at least 24 semester hours (or equivalent) of coursework in each of the principal fields of instruction.
- All professional educators must meet the certification standards for the position in the State where the position is located

- State certification authority.Must be certified by a state, Department of Education. Emergency, provisional, or conditional certificates may be accepted under the conditions they are issued by the State teacher licensure department.
- Valid State Teacher certification for appropriate grade levels (K-6) with Special Education endorsement (required to obtain and maintain)
- Be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional activities under stated guidelines. The instructional areas will normally be elementary academic studies.
- Complete required online trainings to access BIE systems and to establish a BIE email and to gain access to the Native American Student Information System (NASIS).
- Participate in required school staff meetings and required BIE training as identified by the IES Administration.
- Required to participate in any mandatory parent/teacher conferences and IEP meetings.
- Follow the 25 Code of Federal Regulations, all applicable curriculum identified and provided by IES, and state standards, where applicable.
- Work alongside and collaborate with other related service providers like the occupational therapist, speech language therapist, social worker, physical therapist, and other related services providers working with the student to address the requirements of the IEP.
- Contractor will participate in Student Intervention Team (SIT) process and assist to gather data and process work samples and provide recommendations to team. The documentation package may be forwarded with permission to evaluate to a diagnostician. Conducts classes assigned using a variety of skills and teaching techniques, appropriate to the students diagnosed as learning disabled. The incumbent is assigned to instructional levels
- Kindergarten through Sixth grade. The age of students ranges from five to twelve years.
- Meeting with students and families.
- Expect to spend the first 30-days reviewing student files and IEP Information, to get up to speed on each student’s needs. This includes looking the school’s test score, alternative testing, diagnostic reports, social checklists, family case history, etc.
- Prepares daily lesson plans based on individual students Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Teach IES students by selecting, developing, adapting, and implementing appropriate instructional methods and techniques, utilizing available resources, to insure continual achievement for each student.
- Continuously evaluates individual and group progress through evaluation methods and instruments appropriate to each student's IEP. Redesigns instruction, as necessary, to meet individual needs.
- Makes progress reports to parents and confers with parents and other concerned individuals.
